Drivesports (DS Badminton Inc) is a world class badminton academy focused on providing the ultimate training to badminton enthusiasts and athletes. Our mantra has always been to teach the virtues of life through badminton: perseverance, team work, and building a strong character. Our Club has won numerous medals provincially, nationally, and our goal is for international success.
GUOXING HUANG (黄国星, Head Coach & Director / 主教练兼主任
加拿大男子单打选手，之前中国北京队男单主力成员，曾入选中国国家队.在中国他代表北京队参加全国运动会和全国锦标赛，并获得多次冠军，在2012年参加BWF悉尼国际挑战赛获得男子单打亚军.黄教练2016年来到加拿大，并加入到Drivesports Badminton担任教练/球员，2015年他是加拿大Yonex BC Elite男子单打冠军，2016年他是Yonex Albert Elite男子单打冠军，Yonex BC Elite男子单打和男子双打冠军，Atlantic男子单打和男子双打冠军，2017年他是Yonex Toronto Elite冠军.在2018年黄教练代表加拿大参加加拿大公开赛，并打入16强，是当年加拿大男单选手的最好成绩.黄教练是在阿尔伯塔省注册的NCCP认证教练.
LAWRENCE LEE (aka. BIG PAPA), Founder
Founder of the club and original Head Coach from 2012 - 2016, Lawrence started with three student athletes and now oversees a club with over 200+ students. In 2014, he led the athletes in Drivesports to ten gold medal victories in Alberta Provincial Junior Finals and also success at Junior Nationals. Lawrence has retired from being an active coach since 2018. He currently focuses on mentoring and watching a new generation of accomplished leaders take the club to greater aspirations.
KEVIN LEE, Senior Coach
Kevin Lee has an extensive list of achievements, highlights include gold medalist in doubles and mixed doubles at the 2023 Canada National Championship. He is also a triple crown winner at Alberta Provincial Championships and has won gold medal in Canadian Junior Nationals. Most recently, Gold medalist men's doubles at a BWF sanctioned international tournament. Represented Canada at 2022 Thomas Cup in Thailand and Pan American Games in 2023.
OSCAR WANG, Senior Coach
Coach Wang joined Drivesports in 2013. He has won numerous competitions as a player and has taught more than three hundred students. Oscar is a NCCP certified coach registered with Badminton Alberta.
TIMOTHY LEE, Senior Coach
Timothy Lee was Canada's former #2 doubles player in the u19 age category (2016). Along with his partner Jin Kim, they have won ASAA High School Provincial Championship three years in a row, and was the gold medalist at the Yonex Alberta Provincial Junior Championship in u15 and u17 categories. Represented Canada in Junior Panam Games. Instructor since 2016.
EYOTA KWAN, Senior Coach
Selected to be on Team Canada for Junior Pan American (PANAM) Games in 2016. Alberta Junior Provincial winner in singles and mixed doubles. Collegiate gold medalist in Canada. Ms Kwan is an accomplished athlete.
BRANDON TANG, Senior Coach
Brandon Tang is a gold medalist singles, ASAA High School Provincial Championship
He primarily trains Competition II athletes and teaches advanced singles play to our athletes in the Competition program. Instructor since 2017.
ALBERT CHEUNG, Senior Coach
Coach Cheung is an accomplished athlete including winning 1st place at the 2021 Badmintology Doubles Tournament.
EASTON WATSON, Coach
Easton started playing badminton competitively since he was eight years old. with DS. He has won numerous gold medals at Badminton Alberta sanctioned events. Most recently he took 1st place at the 2022 Yonex Junior Championship in the u19 singles category. He has joined our coaching team in 2021.
